Foster Parent Appreciation Month
Dear SaintA Caregivers:
As we celebrate Foster Care Month, I’d like to say thank you for all that you do for the kids in your care and for all of the support you give one another. We see the connections you’ve built with each other in our Facebook group, at SaintA sponsored events and out in the community.
We have seen many of you embrace our Shared Parenting model and we celebrate with you whenever your patience and mentorship lead to stronger biological families. We continue to be amazed at how putting the child at the center of foster care often leads to expanded families long after out-of-home-care ends.
From the daily love and safety you provide, to the milestones you help children achieve, we can’t thank you enough. If there is more support you require from us, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Every Child Can Thrive
This is my first year as CEO of SaintA and I can’t think of a better group of dedicated foster parents with whom I’d want to share this part of my career journey. Many of you, I know personally and others, I have learned about through stories of the exceptional care you provide.
Take, for example, the couple who had been Level 2 foster parents for several years before they felt the calling to become Level 3 licensed for a little girl with severe medical needs. Thank you for the countless hours you spend understanding her healthcare – and happiness – needs.
There’s the public-school teacher turned foster mom, who, along with her husband, uses her skills as an educator to mentor other foster parents. Thank you for making and maintaining those connections.
And then there are the sisters who, side by side, foster their children and who involve their entire family and community in caring for these children. Thank you for showing us all how It Takes a Village!
We know the call to foster care is unique and it’s one of the many reasons I’m so grateful for you, our dedicated foster parents.
Please enjoy Foster Care Appreciation Month and I hope you will take the time to celebrate everything you do for children in your care. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
