Dear SaintA Caregivers:
As we celebrate Foster Care Month, I’d like to say thank you for all that you do for the kids in your care and for all of the support you give one another. We see the connections you’ve built with each other in our Facebook group, at SaintA sponsored events and out in the community.
We have seen many of you embrace our Shared Parenting model and we celebrate with you whenever your patience and mentorship lead to stronger biological families. We continue to be amazed at how putting the child at the center of foster care often leads to expanded families long after out-of-home-care ends.
From the daily love and safety you provide, to the milestones you help children achieve, we can’t thank you enough. If there is more support you require from us, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Every Child Can Thrive
I can’t think of a better group of dedicated foster parents with whom to share my first year as President and CEO of SaintA. I know many of you personally and others, I have learned about through stories of the exceptional care you provide.
Take, for example, the single mom who has answered the call to care for teenagers. Thank you for the countless hours you spend providing teens with a safe place to talk about how they feel. Your love and encouragement and balance of fun and structure are providing a solid foundation.
There’s the young married couple who, when given the chance to become the adoptive resource for their three-year old and 16-month old foster daughters, never hesitated. Thank you for opening your homes and hearts to these little girls and for instilling in your own 6-year old daughter the value of caring for others.
And then there is the grandmother who stepped in to care for her toddler grandson while the youngster’s parents worked on their relationships and reasons to be. Thank you for providing safety and stability for the child and coaching so that his father could eventually be reunified. Thank you for showing us all how It Takes a Village!
We know the call to foster care is unique and it’s one of the many reasons I’m so grateful for you, our dedicated foster parents.
Please enjoy Foster Care Appreciation Month and I hope you will take the time to celebrate everything you do for children in your care. We truly couldn’t do this without you.
