On Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. – noon, SaintA will host its 3rd Annual Call to Action Day, a celebration of foster parents and a chance for families to recommit themselves to the calling. The event is held at the SaintA Franciscan Center at 3939 N. 88th Street, Milwaukee.
At this annual kick-off to Foster Care Appreciation Month, there will be a light breakfast served and childcare will be available if you register early. All SaintA caregivers are welcome and ongoing training hours are offered.
When Parents Work Together, Everyone Benefits
The theme for this year is the call to “Shared Parenting,” a relatively new model with promising results thus far. Shared parenting is when a child is supported by everyone on their team to ensure the best outcomes possible. When foster and biological parents partner with each other as well as the child’s teachers, doctors, dentists, and extended families, for example, the child stays at the center.
During Call to Action, you will learn more about the ways in which foster and bio parents can work together to create an environment that is safe, non-judgmental, culturally sound, open to communication, and supportive.
Limited childcare is available, please register for Call-to-Action Day and Training, by calling 855.GROW.HOPE or emailing us at GrowHope@SaintA.org.
